The Museum Of Transportation (MOT) of Puerto Rico was a special museum in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. It showed the amazing story of how people and things moved around in Puerto Rico. This included everything from the first canoes used by native people to the modern subway system called the "Tren Urbano" (Urban Train).

The museum opened its doors in 2013. It was started by a group of local people who loved cars. The building itself was very impressive, with a design inspired by famous museums around the world. It had three floors and more than 35,000 square feet of space. Inside, you could find old horse-drawn carriages, ox wagons, and cars from the 1950s all the way to recent times. The MOT also displayed historic photos, cool neon signs, antique cars, bicycles, and motorcycles. The museum closed in April 2019.

Exploring the Museum's Collections

The Museum of Transportation had many exciting things to see on its different floors. Each floor offered a unique look at how transportation changed over time.

First Floor: A Journey Through History

The first floor of the MOT was home to a permanent exhibit. This part of the museum showed the long history of transportation in Puerto Rico. You could see a real horse carriage and an ox wagon from the 1900s. There was also a miniature town model with a working train! Visitors could explore items related to boats and planes. A fun flight simulator was also available for people to try.

Second Floor: Cars and Racing Legends

The second floor was all about cars. It featured different themes throughout the year, with four new exhibitions annually. Some past themes included a celebration of the Chevrolet Corvette's 60th Anniversary. There were also special shows for Volkswagen cars, British cars, and the Ford Mustang.

This floor also had a race car simulator, which was very popular. You could see cool racing items from famous drivers like Diego Febles and Chiqui Soldevilla. Among these items were Febles' first-place trophy from the 1978 24 Hours of Daytona race. He also had a first-place trophy from the 1982 12 Hours of Sebring. Other items included his race suits, pictures, and helmets.

Third Floor: Relax and Learn

The third floor of the museum offered a lounge cafe where visitors could relax. It also had a conference room. This room was available to rent and was fully set up for seminars and other activities.
