Mynydd Tarw is a mountain peak in north east Wales. Its name comes from the Welsh language and means "mountain of the bull." It's part of the Berwyn range, a group of hills and mountains. Mynydd Tarw is considered a smaller peak, or "subsidiary summit," next to the larger Cadair Berwyn.
Discovering Mynydd Tarw
Mynydd Tarw stands tall in the beautiful Welsh countryside. It reaches a height of 679 metres (about 2,228 feet) above sea level. This makes it a significant spot for hikers and nature lovers. The mountain is located where the counties of Denbighshire and Powys meet.
What Makes Mynydd Tarw Special?
When you reach the top of Mynydd Tarw, you'll find a large stone structure. This is called a "shelter cairn." A cairn is a pile of stones built by people, often to mark a summit or a path. This one is big enough to offer shelter from the wind.
The views from the summit are truly amazing! You can see far across the landscape. You'll spot the lower parts of the Berwyn mountains to the north and west. Other nearby peaks like Pen Bwlch Llandrillo are also visible. On a clear day, you can also see the main peak of Cadair Berwyn. Other mountains like Godor, Moel yr Ewig, and Foel Wen complete the stunning panorama.
