Mía Maestro (born on June 19, 1978) is a talented actress and singer from Argentina. She is well-known for her roles in popular TV shows and movies. You might recognize her as Nora Martinez in The Strain or as Nadia Santos in Alias. She also played Cristina Kahlo in the movie Frida and Carmen in The Twilight Saga film series.

Early Life and Acting Start
Mía Maestro was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She began her acting journey in Argentina. Her first movie role was in Carlos Saura’s film Tango in 1998. This movie was even nominated for important awards like the Golden Globe and Academy Awards.
Before acting, Mía also trained in Berlin to sing songs by famous composers like Kurt Weill. Her first real acting role was in a play called The Summer Trilogy. By 1998, she earned a big role as Lulu in the play Pandora's Box in Buenos Aires. For this role, she won an "Ace" Award for Best New Artist of the Year.
Becoming a Star: TV and Movies
In 2004, Mía joined the cast of the popular TV show Alias for two seasons. In the same year, she appeared in the Argentine film La Niña Santa. She also starred in The Motorcycle Diaries alongside Gael Garcia Bernal. This movie was based on the real-life journals of Che Guevara.
Mía also played a character who was kidnapped in the thriller movie Secuestro Express. In 2005, she appeared in the music video for the song "Te Amo Corazón" by the artist Prince. The video was directed by her friend Salma Hayek.
In 2006, Mía co-starred in the movie Poseidon. She played Elena Gonzalaz, a girl secretly traveling to meet her sick brother. She also performed in an off-Broadway musical play called My Life as a Fairytale. This play was inspired by the life of the famous author Hans Christian Andersen.
Later, Mía appeared in the comedy Meant to Be and the American indie film The Music Never Stopped. In 2010, she was chosen to play Carmen of the Denali Coven in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 and Part 2. She also guest-starred as Maya in the TV show White Collar.
From 2014 to 2015, Mía played Dr. Nora Martinez in the vampire horror series The Strain. She also had a guest role in the TV series Hannibal in 2015. In 2017, she returned to theater in the play Terror.
More recently, in 2019, Mía starred as Sonia in the drama End of the Century. She also played the main role of Magdalena in the magical film The Cow Who Sang a Song Into the Future (2022). This movie was shown at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2022, it was announced that Mía would play Natalia Revuelta Clews in the movie Alina of Cuba. In 2024, she starred in the independent film Grassland.
Musical Journey
Besides acting, Mía Maestro is also a singer and songwriter. She has performed in cities like Los Angeles, New York City, and Buenos Aires. In 2010, she performed in Iceland, opening for the singer Emiliana Torrini. She also worked with the UK band Faithless, singing on their song "Love is My Condition" from their album The Dance.
Mía's song "Lloverá" was featured on the Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 soundtrack. In November 2012, she released an EP (a short album) called Blue Eyed Sailor. This EP included three songs: "Blue Eyed Sailor", "Time to Go" (with Damien Rice), and "Lloverá". It also had a music video for "Blue Eyed Sailor".
On October 7, 2014, Mía Maestro released her first full album called Si Agua. It was recorded in Iceland. Her voice was even called one of the favorites of 2014 by NPR's Alt.Latino.
Awards and Recognition
Mía Maestro has received several awards for her work. She won an ACE Award for her performance in the play Pandora's Box. For her role in the TV series Alias, she won the Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress in Television. In 2019, she received an honorable mention Grand Jury Award from Outfest for her acting in End of the Century.
