Mörel-Filet is a small town, also called a municipality, in the Valais region of Switzerland. It's located in the Östlich Raron district. This town was created on January 1, 2009. It was formed by joining two smaller places: Mörel and Filet.

A Look Back in Time
The town of Mörel has a long history. It was first mentioned in old records way back in 1203. At that time, it was known as Morgi.
The other part of the town, Filet, was called Gifrisch during the Middle Ages. It was first written about in 1374 as Gifris.

Mörel-Filet covers an area of about 8.4 square kilometers (which is about 3.2 square miles). A big part of this land, about 51.5%, is covered by forests.
