NBC Kids was a special group of TV shows for children in the United States. It was shown on the NBC channel from July 7, 2012, to September 25, 2016.
There was also a Spanish version of this block called "MiTelemundo" on the Telemundo channel. It showed different programs, all in Spanish, from July 7, 2012, until December 31, 2017. The very last show that aired on NBC Kids was Noodle and Doodle.
NBC Kids took the place of another kids' block called Qubo. This happened because NBCUniversal, which owns NBC, stopped being part of the group that ran Qubo. The shows on NBC Kids were chosen by the Sprout TV channel, which also focuses on young children, usually ages 2 to 6.
This three-hour block of shows was designed to be educational and entertaining for younger kids. This was important because TV channels in the U.S. have rules from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) about showing educational programs for children. All the shows on NBC Kids also offered audio descriptions for kids who couldn't see well. This feature was available on a special audio channel, if your local NBC station offered it.
After NBC Kids ended, a new block of shows called The More You Know started. This new block, created by Litton Entertainment, features live-action shows that teach kids things. It began on NBC on October 8, 2016, and on Telemundo on January 6, 2018. NBC Kids was one of the last Saturday morning blocks on major U.S. TV channels that mainly showed non-educational programs for very young children.
