Jay Jay the Jet Plane is a fun Canadian-American TV show for kids. It mixes live actors with computer-animated planes and vehicles. The show is all about a group of friendly aircraft who live in a make-believe place called Tarrytown.

The series first aired in 1994 and ran until 2005. It has 62 episodes, each about 25 minutes long. Every episode usually has one or more songs. These songs and the main theme were written by Stephen Michael Schwartz and performed by the group Parachute Express. The show aims to teach important life lessons and good morals to young viewers.

Meet the Characters

In Jay Jay the Jet Plane, some characters are animated planes and vehicles. Other characters are real people! The show often talks about how the planes are like a family, even though they were made in factories.

Aircraft Friends

  • Jay Jay: He is the main character! Jay Jay is a small, blue jet plane who is always ready for an adventure. He was originally brown in the very first episodes.
  • Tracy: A small, purple jet plane. Tracy is special because she understands American Sign Language.
  • Snuffy: This small, green propeller plane loves to draw pictures in the sky with smoke! He can be a bit shy sometimes.
  • Herky: A small, yellow helicopter. Herky can't drive on the ground because he has skids instead of wheels. He often rolls his "R" sounds when he talks.
  • Big Jake: A large, silver cargo plane with propellers. He helps carry important things.
  • Savannah: A speedy, silver jet that looks a bit like the Concorde. She has a friendly Southern accent because she was "made" in Savannah, Georgia.
  • Old Oscar: An old, green biplane. He is very wise and experienced.

Ground Vehicle Pals

  • Revvin' Evan: A bright red fire engine. He is Tuffy's cousin.
  • Tuffy: A blue and orange tow truck. She is Revvin' Evan's cousin and sometimes has a little trouble with her speech.

Human Characters

  • Brenda Blue: She is the airport manager and a super mechanic! Brenda wears blue clothes and a red or blue cap. She talks to the planes using a special radio.
  • Mrs. Blue: Brenda Blue's mother, who visits Tarrytown Airport sometimes.
  • Miss Lee: The quiet librarian who is deaf.
