John Semper Jr. is an American writer and producer. He was born on August 14. He has worked on many animated TV shows. He is best known for being the producer and head writer for Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

Semper also created the idea of the "Spider-Verse". This is also called the "Spiderman Multiverse". It is a story idea used in many Spider-Man comics, cartoons, and movies.

John Semper's Early Life and Education

John Semper Jr. went to Harvard University. He graduated in 1975. He earned a degree in Visual and Environmental Studies.

John Semper's Career in Animation

Semper has worked for many big companies. These include Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. He also worked for Hanna-Barbera Productions. During his career, he helped develop projects for famous people. These include Jim Henson and George Lucas. He also worked with Stan Lee and Rob Minkoff.

Semper wrote the English words for two Hayao Miyazaki anime movies. These were Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery Service. He also helped write the movie Class Act.

Working on Spider-Man: The Animated Series

In the 1990s, Semper was a producer and story editor. He worked on Spider-Man: The Animated Series. This popular show ran from 1994 to 1998.

In 2016, he started writing a Cyborg comic series. This was for DC Comics. Brian Stelfreeze drew the pictures for it.

The Idea of the Spider-Verse

Semper was the first Spider-Man artist to use the "Spider-Verse" idea. This is also known as the "Spiderman Multiverse". The last two episodes of his animated Spider-Man series showed this. They were called "Spider Wars, Chapter IV: I Really, Really Hate Clones" and "Spider Wars, Chapter V: Farewell, Spider-Man".

In these episodes, different Spider-Man characters met. They came from different parallel universes. This was the first Spider-Man story to show parallel universes. This idea later appeared in many Spider-Man comics and cartoons. It was also seen in movies like the Spider-Verse movie series and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Creeporia Webseries

In 2014, Semper created a webseries called Creeporia. It was a family comedy-horror show. The character Creeporia first appeared in Crypt of Creeporia. This was a mix of live-action and animation. Kommerina DeYoung played Creeporia in the first webseries.

Spider-Man Website

In November 2014, Semper started a website. It is called cartoonspiderman.com. He made it to celebrate 20 years of Spider-Man: The Animated Series. The website has behind-the-scenes content. It also has a Facebook page and podcasts about the show. It shares more information about his work on the 1994 animated series.
