Kid 'n Play was a fun animated TV show from 1990. It was based on the real-life hip-hop duo named Kid 'n Play. The cartoon showed Kid and Play as teenagers. But their music careers were just like their real lives. The show aired on NBC for one season. It ran from September 8 to December 8, 1990. Marvel Productions and Saban Entertainment made the series.

About the Kid 'n Play Show

The real Kid 'n Play appeared in live-action parts of the show. These parts were like short clips before and after the cartoons. But different voice actors played the cartoon versions of the duo. The show taught important lessons. It focused on being good role models. It showed kids how to get along. It also taught them how to stay out of trouble.

Meet the Characters

In the cartoon, Play was often the one with big ideas. He would come up with quick ways to get rich. Kid was usually more responsible. He often had to help fix Play's messes. Their girlfriends sometimes helped solve problems. An older jazz musician also helped them. His name was "Old Blue." He wore a cool blue beret.

The lessons in the show were about different things. Some were serious, and some were lighter. For example, in one episode, Kid's dad thought hip hop music was bad. Kid didn't know how to show him the good side of it. Old Blue helped Kid. He sent Kid back in time. Kid visited the jazz era of the 1920s. This helped Kid understand music's roots better.

Beyond the TV Show

Marvel Comics also made a comic book series. It was based on the Kid 'n Play show. The comic book came out in 1992. It had nine issues.

The TV series was created by John Semper Jr. and Cynthia Friedlob. They were also the main writers for the show. Later, they wrote another movie for Kid 'n Play. It was a live-action film called Class Act. It was made for Warner Bros.. John Semper also worked on "Spider-Man: The Animated Series." He was the head writer for that show.

Meet the Voice Actors

The real Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin played themselves. They were in the live-action parts of the show. Other talented actors gave voices to the cartoon characters.
