Mohammad Naeem Islam (Bengali: মোহাম্মদ নাঈম ইসলাম) is a famous Bangladeshi cricketer. He was born on December 31, 1986, in Gaibandha, Bangladesh. Naeem is a right-handed batsman. He also bowls occasionally, using a right-arm off-break style. He is known as an all-rounder in cricket.

Naeem Islam's Cricket Journey
Starting in Domestic Cricket
Naeem Islam began his cricket career playing for Rajshahi Division in 2004. He played for them until the 2006-07 season. Before this, he played for various Bangladesh youth teams. This helped him get ready for bigger matches.
He showed great skill early on. By December 2011, he had scored seven centuries and 17 half-centuries in first-class cricket. His highest score was 136 runs against Barisal Division.
Top Performer in Leagues
Naeem continued to be a strong player in different leagues.
- In the 2017–18 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, he was the top scorer for Legends of Rupganj. He made 720 runs in 16 matches.
- He also led the scoring for Rangpur Division in the 2018–19 National Cricket League. He scored 444 runs in six matches.
- For North Zone in the 2018–19 Bangladesh Cricket League, he was again the top scorer. He made 522 runs in six matches.
Playing for Bangladesh
Joining the National Team
Naeem Islam made his international debut for Bangladesh on October 9, 2008. This happened during a series of One Day Internationals (ODIs) against New Zealand. He was one of three new players chosen for the team. The chief selector, Rafiqul Alam, called Naeem a "talented young batsman."
He played in all three matches of that series. In the final match in Chittagong, he scored an unbeaten 46 runs. This was his highest score in the series.
Test Match Debut
After his ODI debut, Naeem was chosen for the Test team. He made his Test debut against New Zealand in Chittagong. In that match, he scored 14 runs in the first innings and 19 in the second. He also took his first Test wicket, getting Daniel Flynn out.
Winning Gold for His Country
Naeem was part of the Bangladesh team that played in the 2010 Asian Games in November 2010. The team played against Afghanistan in the final. They won the match by five wickets. This victory earned Bangladesh its first gold medal ever at the Asian Games!
Playing in the Bangladesh Premier League
In 2012, the Bangladesh Cricket Board started a new tournament called the Bangladesh Premier League. This was a Twenty20 cricket tournament. Teams could buy players in an auction. Naeem Islam was bought by the Sylhet Royals team for $90,000.
