It had a heat rating of 1,382,118 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). However, a different pepper, the Carolina Reaper, became the new record holder in 2017.

About the Naga Viper Pepper

The Naga Viper is famous for its extreme heat. It is one of the hottest peppers ever grown. People use the Scoville scale to measure how hot a chili pepper is. The higher the number, the hotter the pepper. The Naga Viper's score of over 1.3 million SHU shows just how spicy it is!

Where the Naga Viper Came From

This amazing pepper was created in England. A chili farmer named Gerald Fowler developed it. He owns a company called The Chilli Pepper Company. His farm is in Cark, Cumbria.

Gerald Fowler made the Naga Viper by mixing different super hot peppers. It is a special type of hybrid plant. It came from three other very hot peppers. These are the Naga Morich, the Bhut jolokia, and the Trinidad scorpion. These three peppers are also known for being incredibly spicy. By combining them, Fowler created the even hotter Naga Viper.
