Nakia Jenkins: Early Life and High School Football

Nakia Jenkins grew up in Belle Glade, Florida. He went to Glades Central High School. While there, he played football with two other talented players, Fred Taylor and Reidel Anthony. Both of them later became professional football players too! Interestingly, Nakia also played in the school band during his first two years of high school.

College Football Journey

After high school, Nakia started his college football career at Chaffey Junior College. He was a really good player there, earning a spot on the All-Foothill Conference first-team in both 1994 and 1995.

Later, he moved to Utah State University. At Utah State, he played alongside quarterback Matthew Sauk. Their team was coached by John L. Smith.

Professional Football Career

Nakia Jenkins hoped to join the NFL in 1998. He was not chosen by any team in the 1998 NFL draft. However, the New York Jets signed him as a free agent. This means they gave him a chance to try out for the team. He was released during training camp that year.

In 1999, Nakia signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Again, he was released during their training camp.

Playing in the XFL

In 2000, Nakia got another chance to play professional football. He was picked by the Las Vegas Outlaws. This team was part of a new league called the XFL, which started in 2001.

Arena Football League

After the XFL, Nakia moved to the Arena Football League. This league plays football indoors on a smaller field. In 2002, he joined the Toronto Phantoms. Two years later, in 2004, he played for the Grand Rapids Rampage.

Coaching Career

After his playing days, Nakia Jenkins became a coach. In 2007, he was named the head coach for the Miami Vice Squad. This team played in the National Indoor Football League.
