A Look at Naranjo's History
Naranjo has an interesting past. After the Spanish–American War ended in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened under an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the United States. This means it is part of the U.S. but not a state.
Population Changes Over Time
In 1899, the United States government did a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 1,358 people lived in Naranjo barrio at that time. The population has changed quite a bit since then.
