Early Life and Moving to Germany
Narges Rashidi was born in Tehran, Iran. Her father was an army colonel, and her mother was a housewife. She lived in Tehran during the Iran–Iraq War.
When she was seven years old, Narges and her family moved away from Iran. They first went to Turkey and then settled in Germany. She grew up in a town called Bad Hersfeld in Germany. She became interested in acting because of the summer theater festivals held in her town.
Her Acting Career
Narges Rashidi started her acting career in 2004. Her first film was an experimental movie called Venussian Tabutasco. Since then, she has appeared in many independent films and television shows.
Becoming Well-Known
Narges Rashidi became very well-known for her main role in the 2016 film Under the Shadow. This movie was shown for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival. Many people praised her acting in the film. The magazine Variety called her performance a "favorite breakthrough." They said she played her character with great intensity and skill. She played an Iranian woman who was upset with how her country had changed.
Recent Roles
In 2020, Narges Rashidi played a character named Lale in the British TV series Gangs of London. This show is still ongoing. In June 2024, it was announced that she would act alongside Joseph Fiennes in a BBC drama. In this show, she plays Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

Narges Rashidi lives in Los Angeles, which is a big city in the United States. She is married to Christian Straka. He used to be a professional tennis player. Narges can speak two languages fluently: Persian and German.
