Nasrine Seraji is a famous architect who was born in Tehran, Iran. She is also a citizen of France and Britain. She has received several important awards from the French government, like the Legion of Honour, for her amazing work.

Nasrine Seraji was born in Tehran, Iran.

Her Career in Architecture

After studying at the Architectural Association in London, Nasrine Seraji started her own architecture studio in Paris in 1989. She sees architecture as both a creative art and a practical job. She has always combined her work as an architect with teaching and research. She has given many talks and shown her work in Europe, North America, China, and South East Asia.

Teaching Architecture

Nasrine Seraji has taught at many top universities around the world.

  • From 1993 to 2001, she taught at Columbia University in New York.
  • She also taught at the Architectural Association in London.
  • She was a visiting professor at Princeton University.
  • At the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, she led one of the architecture Master Schools.
  • From 2001 to 2005, she was the head of the Architecture Department at Cornell University.
  • In 2006, she became the Dean of the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture Paris-Malaquais in Paris.
  • She returned to the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna as a professor.
  • She was also the head of the Architecture Department at the University of Hong Kong.
  • Currently, she is a professor at University College Dublin and a visiting critic at Rice Architecture Paris. She is also a distinguished professor at Michael Graves College of Wenzhou-Kean University.

Building Amazing Projects

Nasrine Seraji has designed and completed many important buildings.

  • She designed the Temporary American Centre in Paris.
  • She has completed apartment buildings in Vienna.
  • She designed student housing in Paris in 2003.
  • She also designed an extension for the School of Architecture in Lille in 2006. Both the student housing and the Lille extension were nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Prize, which is a very important award in architecture.
  • In 2017, she completed a large building called "Big Heavy Beautiful" in Paris. This building includes 213 homes, a daycare, a bus depot, and a community garden. It was built for the Paris Transportation Authority.
