Navacerrada is a small town in the Community of Madrid, Spain. It sits high up at about 1,203 meters (3,947 feet) above sea level. The town is next to the Reservoir Navacerrada and the beautiful "Valle de la Barranca" valley. This area is part of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains.
Navacerrada is about 52 kilometers (32 miles) from Madrid, the capital city. Around 2,500 people live there permanently. However, many more visitors come during the winter months. The Port of Navacerrada is famous for its popular ski resort. It's a great spot for people who love winter sports. You can find a ski school, restaurants, and places to stay there.

Navacerrada has a special climate. Even though it's near Madrid, it feels different because it's so high up. It has a Mediterranean climate with cool or warm summers. Winters are usually a few degrees colder than in the Spanish capital.
The town has a clear dry summer. But it gets a lot of rain in spring and fall. The least rain falls in late winter. This is different from places where rain slowly decreases in between seasons.

Navacerrada has its own train station. The C-9 line of Cercanías Madrid runs through it. This train line connects Navacerrada with Cotos and Cercedilla. It's a scenic way to travel in the mountains.
