Cercedilla is a town in the Community of Madrid, located in central Spain. It is found in the Sierra de Guadarrama mountains. A municipality is like a local government area, similar to a town or city.

Famous People from Cercedilla
Cercedilla is known as the hometown of Francisco Fernández Ochoa (1950–2006). He was a famous alpine ski racer. He made history by becoming the first and only Spaniard to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics.
Francisco Fernández Ochoa's Olympic Win
Francisco won the slalom event in 1972. This big win happened in Japan. A statue was put up in his honor in Cercedilla shortly before he passed away.
Blanca Fernández Ochoa's Olympic Medal
Many of Francisco's brothers and sisters were also on the national ski team. His sister, Blanca, also won an Olympic medal. She earned a bronze medal in 1992 in France.

- Line C-9: This line is mostly for tourists. It has only two stops. One stop is in Navacerrada and the other is in Cotos. Both are located in the beautiful Sierra de Guadarrama mountains.
Regional Train Connections
A regional train line also starts from Cercedilla. This train connects the village of Cercedilla with Segovia.
