Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Nazitübbies is a funny series of short videos from a Danish TV show called den 11. time. It's a parody (a funny imitation) of the well-known children's show Teletubbies. This series imagines what the Teletubbies might be like if a group called the Nazis had won World War II.

Meet the Nazitübbies Characters

The Nazitübbies show has four colorful characters. Each character is named after a famous leader from the Nazi time period. They are:

  • Heinrich Himmler as Tinky Winky. This character is black instead of green.
  • Joseph Goebbels as Dipsy. This character is gold instead of yellow.
  • Hermann Göring as Laa-Laa. This character is blue instead of purple.
  • Rudolf Hess as Po. This character is brown instead of red.

These characters live together in an underground air-raid shelter. This shelter is in a pretty, flowering meadow.

What Do the Nazitübbies Do?

The Nazitübbies enjoy many activities. They like to play games, sometimes even trying to take shiny things from each other. They also march their Alsatian dogs. Sometimes, they practice a special march called the "goose-step." Luftmarschall Göring is often the leader during these activities.

Just like the original Teletubbies, the Nazitübbies have TV screens on their bellies. These screens show short video clips. The clips often come from old German newsreels. These newsreels were called Die Deutsche Wochenschau. They ran from 1940 until the end of World War II. The clips often showed things like new roads being built.

The Sun and Music

In the show, Adolf Hitler is shown as the Sun. He shines down on the meadow. When the Sun appears, you can hear the sound of children laughing. The music in the show is a mix of happy children's TV tunes and military march music.

How the Show Starts and Ends

The sketches begin with Adolf Hitler as the Sun rising. The camera shows the air raid shelter in the green forest. A narrator says, "The Nazitübbies live at the great bunker in the green forest. They are having a real good time."

Then, the Nazitübbies run out of their bunker. They stand up straight as the show's logo appears and disappears. A voice trumpet, like in Teletubbies, says, "Here Come the Nazitübbies! Here Come the Nazitübbies! Here Come the Nazitübbies!" The Nazitübbies then chant.

The show also features clips of the Nazitübbies playing together. They bump tummies, knock each other down, and sometimes chase each other. The narrator says each Nazitübby's name as the camera zooms in on them. The Nazitübbies then sing a short song before running off.

The sketches end with the voice trumpet saying, "Now it's time for Nazitübby bye-bye." The Nazitübbies all say "Bye-bye" and go into their house one by one. The narrator says, "So long, Nazitübbies. Have a good time until we meet again!" Göring is the last to go inside. He closes the doors, then opens them again to say "Bye-bye" one last time, followed by laughter.

Where Was It Shown?

The talk show den 11. time, which featured Nazitübbies, was broadcast until 2008. It was shown on Danmarks Radio, which is Denmark's national public TV channel. It also appeared on Kanal 5.
