History of Neebing
Neebing is made up of several smaller areas called townships. These are Blake, Crooks, Pardee, Pearson, and Scoble. The Neebing we know today was officially formed on January 1, 1999. It's important not to confuse it with an older area also called Neebing. That older area became part of the City of Thunder Bay in 1970.
How Neebing Was Formed
The Municipality of Neebing was first created a long time ago, in 1881. This was done by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, which makes laws for the province. At that time, Neebing included several townships: Neebing township, Neebing Additional township, Blake, Crooks, and Pardee.
Over the years, parts of Neebing were separated to form other cities. In 1892, a large part of Neebing was used to create the City of Fort William. Then, in 1970, the rest of the original Neebing township was also removed. This left the municipality with its name, but with different land.
