Music Career
How A.R. Rahman Discovered Her
Neeti shared an interesting story about how the famous composer A. R. Rahman discovered her. In 2006, her sister Shakti was a dancer in one of Rahman's shows. Neeti wanted to speak to him but didn't get the chance. She told her sister that one day she would perform with him.
Six months later, she met Rahman's manager by chance. He told her they were looking for new singers for a US tour. Neeti sent in an audition tape. Three weeks later, she got a call saying Rahman liked her voice and she was chosen for the tour.
Breakthrough Success (2012–2014)
Neeti's Bollywood career began in 2012 with the song "Ishq Wala Love" from Student of the Year. The song was a huge hit. That same year, she sang "Jiya Re" for the movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan, composed by A. R. Rahman. Both songs became very popular.
Her success with these songs earned her the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award. She was also nominated for the Best Female Playback Singer for "Jiya Re".
In the following years, she sang many popular songs. These included "Saadi Galli Aaja" with Ayushmann Khurrana and "Kashmir Main Tu Kanyakumari" from Chennai Express. She also sang "Tune Maari Entriyaan" from Gunday, which was one of the top songs of 2014. Another major hit was "Tu Hi Tu" from the movie Kick.

In 2015, Neeti worked on the movie Bombay Velvet, where she sang six jazz songs. The director wanted a voice that sounded like a classic jazz singer, and Neeti was the perfect choice. To prepare, she even read the movie's script and recorded the songs as if she were performing live.
