Neeti Mohan Sharma (born on November 18, 1979) is a famous Indian singer. She is best known for singing in Hindi films. She has also sung in many other languages like Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Punjabi, and English.
Neeti Mohan was born in Delhi. She became well-known after winning the reality show Popstars on Channel V. After the show, she joined a pop group called Aasma. She became very popular when she sang "Ishq Wala Love" for the movie Student of the Year (2012). This song helped her win the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award for New Music Talent. She was also nominated for the Best Female Playback Singer for her song "Jiya Re" from Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012).
In 2015, she sang six jazz songs for the movie Bombay Velvet. Music critics really liked her performance. The next year, she got another nomination for Best Female Playback Singer for "Sau Aasmaan" from Baar Baar Dekho (2016). That same year, Neeti Mohan became a coach on The Voice India Kids (Season 1) and The Voice India (Season 2). Besides her singing career, she also helps with many charities and social causes.

Early Life and How She Started
Neeti Mohan was born in Delhi, India. Her father, Brij Mohan Sharma, worked for the government. Her mother, Kusum, was a homemaker. Neeti is the oldest of four sisters. Her younger sisters are Shakti Mohan, Mukti Mohan, and Kriti Mohan.
Neeti started learning music at the Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She also loved acting and dancing. Singing was a serious hobby for her back then. During her school days, Neeti was part of the school band. She even took part in the Delhi Republic Day parade for five years! Her father encouraged her to join many activities. She sang, danced, performed in the band, and did theatre. She was even named the best cadet in the National Cadet Corps of India. She represented India in a Youth Exchange Programme.
Later, she studied music formally at the Bhatkhande Music Institute. She continued her training in Mumbai for five years with Rajashree Pathak. Besides singing, Neeti also trained in dancing with her sisters. She learned Bharata Natyam and Kathak from Ashley Lobo. She even worked as a dance instructor, teaching kids. Neeti Mohan studied philosophy at Miranda House, University of Delhi.
In 2003, Neeti won the reality TV show Popstars on Channel V. She became part of a pop group called Aasma with other winners. This gave her the chance to perform with famous singer Bryan Adams. Later, she met A. R. Rahman's manager. In 2007, she auditioned for Rahman's USA tour. She sang "Maya Maya" and other songs. Three weeks later, she got the call that Rahman liked her voice! She was picked for the tour.
In 2009, Neeti joined the Star Plus show Music Ka Maha Muqqabla. Her team, "Shankar's Rockstars," led by Shankar Mahadevan, won the show. Neeti married actor Nihaar Pandya on February 15, 2019. On their second wedding anniversary, February 15, 2021, they shared that they were expecting their first child.

2012–2014: Big Hits and New Awards
Neeti Mohan started her Bollywood singing career in 2012. She sang "Ishq Wala Love" for the movie Student of the Year. She sang it with Salim Merchant and Shekhar Ravjiani. Next, she sang the lively song "Jiya Re" for Jab Tak Hai Jaan. This song was composed by A. R. Rahman. Neeti felt Rahman chose her because she showed a lot of energy in their past shows. Critics praised her "refreshing voice" in "Jiya Re."
Both "Ishq Wala Love" and "Jiya Re" became very popular songs. For these songs, Neeti won the Filmfare R. D. Burman Award for New Music Talent. She also got her first nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for "Jiya Re." In the same year, she released her first single, "Ja Ja." She composed and wrote this song herself, with help from her father.
In 2013, Neeti sang "Saadi Galli Aaja" with Ayushmann Khurrana. This was a Punjabi song, and Neeti had to learn the words carefully. Critics loved her "husky voice" in the unplugged version. In 2015, Neeti had a big release with Amit Trivedi's Bombay Velvet. She sang six jazz songs for the movie. Trivedi wanted a voice like Asha Bhosle mixed with Nina Simone for the character Rosie. Neeti even read the script before recording the songs. She dressed like a jazz singer in the studio to get into character! For the song "Dhadaam Dhadaam," she was asked to feel the pain of a breakup. She said she even got a fever after recording it.
She also worked with Trivedi again on Shaandaar, singing "Nazdeekiyaan" and "Senti Wali Mental." Neeti sang "Aalif Se" for Mr. X and "Sarfira" for Katti Batti. Critics said Neeti was the best part of the Katti Batti soundtrack. She also sang "Mersalaayitten" in Tamil with Anirudh Ravichander for the movie I. Later, she sang "Neeyum Nannum" for Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. This song earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer – Tamil. In 2016, Neeti sang "Haal-E-Dil" for Sanam Teri Kasam. Critics loved how her voice could change from soothing to haunting. She says he is a "task master" who brings out the best in her.

Helping Others
Besides her music career, Neeti Mohan is involved in many charity works. In October 2014, she performed at the "Hum Hain Umeed E Kashmir" concert. This concert aimed to raise money to help people affected by the Kashmir floods. In the same month, she performed in New Delhi to raise funds for people affected by floods in Assam. In June 2016, she performed at a charity dinner for the Smile Foundation. This event supported empowering underprivileged children and youth.
