Nemadji is a small, quiet place known as an unincorporated community in Minnesota, United States. It's located within Barnum Township in Carlton County. An unincorporated community is a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
Finding Nemadji
If you visit Nemadji, you'll find that Carlton County Roads 8 and 11 are important routes that run through the area. Nemadji is about six miles (or about 10 kilometers) east of a town called Barnum. It's also about nine miles (or 14.5 kilometers) east of Moose Lake.
Nemadji's Story
Nemadji once had its own post office! It opened in 1912, which was a long time ago. People could send and receive mail right there in their community. However, the post office closed its doors in 1953. The community got its name from the nearby Nemadji River.
