New Richmond is a town in Coal Creek Township, Montgomery County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 309 at the 2020 census.
History
New Richmond was platted by Samuel Kincaid in 1836. The post office at New Richmond has been in operation since 1850.
In 1985, New Richmond was turned into Hickory, Indiana, for the filming of the motion picture Hoosiers, starring Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey, and Dennis Hopper. Signs on the roads leading into town recall the community's role in the film.
Geography
New Richmond is located in northwestern Montgomery County. It is 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Crawfordsville, the county seat, and 17 miles (27 km) southwest of Lafayette.

2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 333 people, 134 households, and 93 families living in the town. The population density was 1,665.0 inhabitants per square mile (642.9/km2). There were 148 housing units at an average density of 740.0 per square mile (285.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.0% White, 0.3% Asian, and 2.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.6% of the population.
There were 134 households, of which 35.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.7% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 9.0% had a male householder with no wife present, and 30.6% were non-families. 25.4% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 2.89.
The median age in the town was 37.8 years. 26.7% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.7% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 26.1% were from 25 to 44; 26.1% were from 45 to 64; and 12.3% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the town was 49.8% male and 50.2% female.
Education
North Montgomery School Corporation serves New Richmond. Elementary students are zoned to Pleasant Hill Elementary School. Secondary school students attend Northridge Middle School and North Montgomery High School.
