New Washoe City is a small community in Washoe County, Nevada, United States. It's called an unincorporated community because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county.
This community is located in the beautiful Washoe Valley. You can find it in southern Washoe County, between the bigger cities of Reno and Carson City. It sits on the east side of Washoe Lake. New Washoe City is also part of the larger Reno–Sparks metropolitan area, which is a region with many connected cities and towns.
In 1990, about 2,875 people lived in New Washoe City. By 2010, the population grew to 3,019.

History of New Washoe City
New Washoe City was started in 1961. It was designed as a planned community, meaning it was carefully laid out and built with a specific plan in mind. When it first began, land lots were sold for $1,500. You could buy a lot with a down payment of $35 and then pay $35 each month.
The name "New Washoe City" comes from an older, smaller place nearby called Washoe City. People often call the older settlement "Old Washoe City." It's located near the northwest side of Little Washoe Lake.
New Washoe City is well-known because it's very close to Washoe Lake, Little Washoe Lake, and Washoe Lake State Park. This makes it a great spot for outdoor activities.
Connecting to Other Cities
New Washoe City is connected to the Reno-Carson City area by a road called Eastlake Boulevard. This road used to be known as State Route 428. It links the community to major highways like US 395 and I-580.
Washoe City's Past
The original Washoe City was founded in August 1861. It was an important place because it was the first county seat of Washoe County. A county seat is the main town where the county government offices are located. However, in February 1871, the county seat was moved to Reno.
Postal Information
New Washoe City has its own ZIP code, which is 89704. This ZIP code is linked to the Washoe Valley area. Even though New Washoe City is completely inside Washoe County, its mail is often handled by the Carson City Post Office. For many years, people living in Washoe Valley used "Carson City" as their mailing address. Recently, the Postal Service has started to recognize "Washoe Valley" as an acceptable address.
