Nicholas John Albert Fairfax, born on January 4, 1956, holds the title of the 14th Lord Fairfax of Cameron. He is a British politician who belongs to the Conservative Party. He became the Lord Fairfax of Cameron in 1964, taking over from his father, Thomas Fairfax, 13th Lord Fairfax of Cameron. This title is a special kind of noble rank in the United Kingdom.
Early Life and School
Nicholas John Albert Fairfax was born on January 4, 1956. He is the oldest son of Thomas Fairfax, 13th Lord Fairfax of Cameron and Sonia Helen Gunston. His father passed away in 1964.
Nicholas went to Eton College, a famous school in England. After that, he studied at Downing College, Cambridge. He became a barrister, which is a type of lawyer who represents people in court. He joined a group for barristers called Gray's Inn in 1977.
His Career and Work
Lord Fairfax has worked for several companies. From 1987 to 1990, he was a director at Thomas Miller P and I, and Thomas Miller Defence. He also worked at Sedgwick Marine & Cargo Ltd from 1995 to 1996.
Since 2005, he has been involved with Sovcomflot (UK) Ltd and Sovcomflot. He is also a Patron (a supporter) of the AMUR Tiger and Leopard Charity, which helps protect these big cats. He is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights, which are old traditions in London.
Working in Parliament
Lord Fairfax was a member of the House of Lords for the first time from 1977 to 1999. The House of Lords is part of the UK Parliament, where laws are made.
In November 2015, he was chosen to return to the House of Lords. This happened through a special election for hereditary peers from the Conservative Party. He took the place of Edward Montagu-Scott, 3rd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu, who had passed away.
In 2020, Lord Fairfax supported Justin Fairfax, who was the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in the United States. Justin Fairfax was running to become the Governor of Virginia. It's interesting to note that Justin Fairfax's ancestor was freed from slavery by an earlier Lord Fairfax.

In 1982, Nicholas John Albert Fairfax married Annabella Ruth Morriss. She was born on January 13, 1957.
They have three sons:
- Hon. Edward Nicholas Thomas Fairfax, born on September 20, 1984. He is the oldest son.
- Hon. John Frederick Anthony Fairfax, born on June 27, 1986.
- Hon. Rory Henry Francis Fairfax, born on May 21, 1991.
His oldest son, Edward Nicholas Thomas Fairfax, is the one who will inherit his title, Lord Fairfax of Cameron, in the future.
