Nijefurd was a special area in the northern Netherlands. It was like a small local government, called a municipality. This area was located in the province of Friesland.
History of Nijefurd
Nijefurd was created in 1984. It was formed by joining together several older municipalities. These included Hindeloopen, Stavoren, and Workum. Part of another area called Hemelumer Oldeferd also joined.
In 2011, Nijefurd changed again. It joined with four other municipalities. These were Bolsward, Sneek, Wûnseradiel, and Wymbritseradiel. Together, they formed a brand new, larger municipality. This new area is called Súdwest Fryslân.
