The Unique Mountain Laurel Sanctuary

In the western part of Nipmuck State Forest, there's a special place. It's called the Mountain Laurel Sanctuary. This sanctuary is located on Snow Hill.

Mountain laurel is Connecticut's state flower. It grows very well here. What makes this spot unique is how tall the mountain laurel plants get. They can grow up to 15 to 20 feet high! This is much taller than mountain laurel usually grows. It's a beautiful sight when they are in bloom.
