Nita Ambani (born Nita Dalal on November 1, 1964) is an Indian businesswoman and a person who helps others (a philanthropist). She started and leads the Reliance Foundation. She also founded the Dhirubhai Ambani International School. She is a director at Reliance Industries.

Nita Ambani is married to Mukesh Ambani, who leads Reliance Industries Limited. Their family is one of the wealthiest in the world. She also collects art and owns the Indian Premier League cricket team, Mumbai Indians.

In 2016, India Today magazine named her one of the 'fifty high and mighty Indians'. Forbes also listed her among 'the most influential women business leaders in Asia'. In the same year, she became the first Indian woman to join the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Nita Ambani is also a co-chair of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image. In 2023, she opened the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai.

Early Life

Nita Ambani was born Nita Dalal on November 1, 1964. She grew up in a regular family in Mumbai, India. Her parents were Ravindrabhai Dalal and Purnima Dalal.

She earned a degree in commerce from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. From a young age, she learned Bharatnatyam, which is a classical Indian dance. She became a professional Bharatanatyam dancer.

Her sister, Mamta Dalal, is a school teacher. She has taught the children of famous people like Sachin Tendulkar and Shah Rukh Khan.

Nita Ambani's Career

Nita Mukesh Ambani is the founder and leader of Reliance Foundation. This foundation is the part of Reliance Industries that focuses on helping society. In 2014, she joined the board of directors for Reliance Industries.

She also enjoys collecting art. In August 2023, Nita Ambani stepped down from her role on the Board of Directors of Reliance Industries (RIL). However, she still leads the Reliance Foundation. She continues to attend all RIL Board meetings as a special guest.

Jamnagar Township Project

In 1997, Nita Ambani helped with a big project. It was about building a town for the employees of Reliance's refinery in Jamnagar. This town was designed to be green and friendly to the environment. It was built to house over 17,000 people.

Jio World Centre

Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC)

The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) was opened by Nita Ambani on March 31, 2023. It is located inside the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.

The main idea behind this center is to offer programs for the community. These include outreach programs for schools and colleges. It also offers competitions, awards for art teachers, and art learning programs for adults.

The NMACC has four floors. It includes a large exhibition space and three theaters. The biggest theater, called the Grand Theatre, can seat 2,000 people. It has a unique chandelier shaped like a lotus, made with 8,400 Swarovski crystals.

There are three special areas for performances: The Grand Theatre, The Studio Theatre, and The Cube. The center also has the Art House. This is a four-story space to show the work of top Indian and international artists.

Nita met Mukesh Ambani when she was a school teacher. They got married in 1985. After getting married, she continued to work as a teacher for a few years.

Nita lives in a very tall private building called Antilia. It is known as one of the most luxurious and expensive homes in the world.

Nita and Mukesh Ambani have two sons and one daughter. She is also a grandmother to four young children.
