Life and education
Anil Ambani is the youngest son of the founder of Reliance Industries, Dhirubhai Ambani and his wife Kokilaben Ambani. Ambani has said that his father would lead the brothers on "incentive-oriented outings" where they would be rewarded with a box of mangoes for a 10-km (6 mile) hike, but also punished them for acting out in front of guests. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Kishinchand Chellaram College and received a Master in Business Administration at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983.

Anil Ambani took over parts of the Reliance Group that included businesses in telecom, entertainment, financial services, power, and infrastructure. He is also known for India's largest IPO (Initial Public Offering) for Reliance Power in 2008. An IPO is when a company first sells its shares to the public. This IPO was very popular and was fully bought by investors in less than 60 seconds, which was a record at the time.
In 2005, Anil Ambani entered the entertainment world by buying a large part of Adlabs Films. This company worked on film processing, making movies, showing them in cinemas, and digital cinema. The company later changed its name to Reliance MediaWorks in 2009.
In 2008, his entertainment business grew globally through a big partnership with Steven Spielberg's production company, DreamWorks. Anil Ambani helped produce several films, including the Academy Award-winning movie Lincoln.
Over time, some of Anil Ambani's companies faced financial challenges.
