Nomad Foods is a large company that sells frozen foods. It has its main offices in the United Kingdom. The company was officially started in the British Virgin Islands.

In 2015, Nomad Foods bought a big company called Iglo Group. Most of Nomad Foods' sales in 2016 came from five countries: the UK, Italy, Germany, France, and Sweden.

How Nomad Foods Started

Nomad Foods began on April 1, 2014. It was created by Noam Gottesman and Martin E. Franklin. At first, it was just a company that invested money, not one that made products. Its shares were traded on the London Stock Exchange.

Buying Iglo Group

On April 20, 2015, Nomad Holding announced it would buy the Iglo Group. Iglo Group owned popular frozen food brands like Iglo, Birds Eye, and Findus in Italy. The deal was worth €2.6 billion.

Nomad Holdings finished buying Iglo Group on July 1, 2015. After this, the company changed its name to Nomad Foods.

Expanding with Findus

In November 2015, Nomad Foods bought the rest of the Findus Group. This meant that all parts of Findus, including those in Italy and other parts of Europe, were now owned by the same company.

Moving to a New Stock Exchange

In January 2016, Nomad Foods moved its stock listing. It changed from the London Stock Exchange to the New York Stock Exchange. This allowed more people to buy and sell its shares.

More Recent Purchases

Nomad Foods continued to grow by buying other frozen food companies.

  • In April 2018, it bought Goodfella's Pizza for €225 million.
  • In June 2018, it agreed to buy Aunt Bessie's, a British frozen food maker, for €280 million.

In January 2021, Nomad Foods started talks to buy the frozen food business from Fortenova Grupa. This included companies like Ledo Plus from Croatia, Ledo Čitluk from Bosnia, and Frikom from Serbia. The deal was completed in September 2021 for about €615 million.
