Nomad Foods is a big company that sells frozen foods. It started in the United Kingdom. The company is officially registered in the British Virgin Islands. In 2015, Nomad Foods bought a large company called the Iglo Group. Most of Nomad Foods' sales in 2016 came from five countries: the UK, Italy, Germany, France, and Sweden.
How Nomad Foods Started
Nomad Foods began on April 1, 2014. It was created by two people, Noam Gottesman and Martin E. Franklin. At first, it was just an investment company, meaning it bought other businesses. Its shares were listed on the London Stock Exchange, which is where people can buy and sell parts of a company.
Buying Iglo Group
On April 20, 2015, Nomad Foods announced a big purchase. They decided to buy the Iglo Group for about €2.6 billion. The Iglo Group owned popular frozen food brands like Iglo, Birds Eye, and Findus (in Italy). This deal was completed on July 1, 2015. After buying Iglo, Nomad Holdings changed its name to Nomad Foods.
Expanding with Findus and More
Nomad Foods continued to grow. In November 2015, they bought the rest of the Findus Group. This meant that all Findus operations in Europe, including those in Italy, were now under the same company.
In January 2016, Nomad Foods changed where its shares were listed. They moved from the London Stock Exchange to the New York Stock Exchange in the United States.
The company kept buying more frozen food brands. In April 2018, Nomad Foods bought Goodfella's Pizza for €225 million. Then, in June 2018, they agreed to buy another British frozen food company called Aunt Bessie's for €280 million.
In January 2021, Nomad Foods started talks to buy the frozen food business from a company called Fortenova Grupa. This deal included popular brands like Ledo Plus from Croatia, Ledo Čitluk from Bosnia, and Frikom from Serbia. The purchase was completed in September 2021 for about €615 million.
