Norbert Alban Eder (born November 7, 1955 – died November 2, 2019) was a German football player. He was mostly known for playing as a defender.
He had a professional career that lasted 14 years. During this time, he played 433 games and scored 33 goals. He played for important German teams like 1. FC Nürnberg and Bayern Munich.
Norbert Eder also played for West Germany in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

Playing for Clubs
Norbert Eder was born in Bibergau, Germany. He joined the youth team of 1. FC Nürnberg when he was 17 years old. Just one year later, he moved up to play for their main team.
Early Career at Nürnberg
Eder played for Nürnberg for four years in the second division of German football. In the 1977–78 season, his team won promotion to the top league, called the Bundesliga. However, they were sent back down to the second division the very next year. When he first started playing, Eder often played as a midfielder.
Joining Bayern Munich
In the summer of 1984, when he was almost 29, Eder joined Bayern Munich. He stayed with Bayern for four years. During this time, he played in at least 32 league games each season.
Winning Championships
With Bayern Munich, Norbert Eder helped his team win the German national championship three times in a row. In the 1986–87 season, he played in 44 official games. This included nine games in the European Cup. He played the entire game in the final match, where Bayern lost 1–2 to F.C. Porto.
Retirement from Football
Norbert Eder stopped playing professional football in June 1989. His last year was spent playing in Switzerland for FC Zürich. After he retired, he worked as a manager for amateur football teams for many years.

Norbert Eder played for the West Germany national team. His first game was on May 11, 1986. It was a friendly match against Yugoslavia in Bochum, and the game ended in a 1–1 tie.
The 1986 FIFA World Cup
The manager, Franz Beckenbauer, chose Eder to play in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. Eder played in almost every minute of every game for West Germany in that tournament. West Germany finished as the runner-up, meaning they came in second place.
