Norman Manley International Airport (KIN, MKJP), once called Palisadoes Airport, is a major airport in Kingston, Jamaica. It is managed by a company called NMIA Airports Limited. This airport is a main base, or "hub," for Caribbean Airlines. It was also a hub for the former Air Jamaica and for Skylan Airways.
The airport is named after Norman Washington Manley. He was a very important leader and is one of Jamaica's national heroes. Every week, more than 130 international flights take off from this airport. Norman Manley International Airport is built on a narrow strip of land called the Palisadoes tombolo. This means it has the city of Kingston on one side and the beautiful Caribbean Sea on the other.
