Norman Mark Reedus (born January 6, 1969) is an American actor. He started his career as a model. He became well-known for playing Murphy MacManus in the movie The Boondock Saints (1999). He played this role again in The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009).
Norman Reedus also had supporting roles in bigger movies like Blade II (2002) and American Gangster (2007). He mostly worked on independent films until he was cast as Daryl Dixon in the AMC horror drama series The Walking Dead (2010–2022). Daryl Dixon became one of the most popular characters in the series. Reedus now stars as Daryl Dixon in the spin-off series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (2023–present).
Besides acting, Reedus hosts the AMC travel show Ride with Norman Reedus (2016–present). He also played the main character, Sam Porter Bridges, in the video games Death Stranding (2019) and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach (2025).

Norman Reedus's Early Life and Family
Norman Mark Reedus was born on January 6, 1969, in Hollywood, Florida. His mother, Marianne, was a teacher and former model. His father was Ira Norman Reedus. Norman's family has roots from Italy, France, England, Scotland, and Ireland. His parents divorced when he was young. He has one sister named Leslie.
As a teenager, Reedus lived in Japan with his mother. He later attended Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas, for a short time.

Before acting, Norman Reedus worked at a Harley-Davidson shop in Venice, Los Angeles, California. He also created art, including paintings, photographs, sculptures, and video art. His first acting role was in a play called Maps for Drowners.

In 2010, Norman Reedus began playing Daryl Dixon in the AMC TV series The Walking Dead. This show is a horror drama about people trying to survive in a world filled with zombies. The character of Daryl Dixon was not in the original comic books. He was created just for Reedus after his audition for another role.
The comic book creator, Robert Kirkman, said he was very happy that Reedus joined the show. He felt that Reedus truly brought Daryl Dixon to life. Reedus's acting in the first season helped the writers develop Daryl's character even more in the second season. The Walking Dead became one of the most popular cable TV shows ever. Norman Reedus was in a relationship with model Helena Christensen from 1998 to 2003. They have a son together, born in 1999. They remain friends and share parenting responsibilities.

In February 2005, Reedus was in a car accident in Germany and had a head injury. His nose and left eye socket needed surgery.
In 2015, while filming the movie Sky, Reedus met German actress Diane Kruger. They became a couple in 2016. In November 2018, Kruger gave birth to their daughter, Nova. This is Reedus's second child and Kruger's first.
