Norrie's Early Days: A Railroad Camp
Norrie was first settled in the late 1880s. It started as a camp for workers building the Colorado Midland Railway. This railroad route followed the Fryingpan River.
The workers at Norrie had two main jobs. They cut down trees to use in building the railroad. They also made ice from local ponds. This ice was then used in the railroad's special refrigerator cars to keep things cold.
Today, Norrie is a quiet place. Many private summer cabins are located along its peaceful streets.
