North Baldface facts for kids
North Baldface is a cool mountain in New Hampshire. It stands about 3,600 feet (1,099 meters) tall. You can find it in the eastern part of the White Mountains. The mountain got its name because its southeast side is very steep and rocky, looking "bald."
Many people love to hike North Baldface. Its neighbor, South Baldface, is also a popular spot. These two mountains are great for summer adventures. You can reach them using trails like Slippery Brook, Baldface Knob, Baldface Circle, Meader Ridge, and Bicknell Ridge.

North Baldface is part of a beautiful natural area. It has other mountains and rivers nearby.
Neighboring Mountains
Right next to North Baldface, to the southeast, is South Baldface. You can hike between them on the Baldface Circle Trail. To the west, there's a valley with the Wild River. Beyond that, you can see the Carter-Moriah Range. Another mountain, Mount Meader, is about 3 miles (5 kilometers) to the northeast. It is about 2,782 feet (848 meters) tall.
Water Flowing from the Mountain
Water from North Baldface flows in different directions.
- On the east side, water goes into Charles Brook. This brook then flows into the Cold River. The Cold River eventually joins the Saco River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
- The southwest side of the mountain drains into the East Branch Saco River. This also leads to the Saco River and then the Atlantic Ocean.
- Water from the northwest side flows into the Wild River. This river is a branch of the Androscoggin River. The Androscoggin River then joins the Kennebec River, which also flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
