The North Concho River is a cool river in west-central Texas. It's one of three main streams that flow into the Concho River. Think of it as a smaller stream joining a bigger one!

This river is about 88 miles (142 kilometers) long. The other two streams that join the Concho River are the Middle Concho and South Concho Rivers. The Concho River itself eventually flows into the Colorado River in Texas. Just remember, this isn't the famous Colorado River that goes through places like the Grand Canyon!

Where Does the North Concho River Flow?

The North Concho River starts in Glasscock County. From there, it makes its way through several towns and areas.

River's Journey Through Towns

The river flows towards Sterling City in Sterling County. Then it passes by Water Valley, Carlsbad, and Grape Creek. These towns are all in Tom Green County.

Into O.C. Fisher Reservoir

Eventually, the North Concho River flows into a large lake called O.C. Fisher Reservoir. This lake used to be known as San Angelo Lake. After the water leaves the reservoir, it goes under 29th Street.

Through San Angelo

The river then winds its way through the northwest part of San Angelo. It also flows right through the downtown area of the city. Finally, it meets up with the South Concho River at Bell Street. When they join, they form the main Concho River.

Making the River Better

Since the 1980s, people have worked hard to improve the part of the river that flows through San Angelo. Over $2 million has been spent to make it nicer. There are even plans to spend $8 million more to keep improving the river for everyone to enjoy!
