North Willoughby is a friendly suburb in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It's located on the Lower North Shore, about 9 kilometers north of the city center. It's part of the City of Willoughby area. Remember, North Willoughby is its own place, different from nearby Willoughby and Willoughby East!

A Look Back in Time
North Willoughby might have been named by a famous explorer, Sir Thomas Mitchell. He may have named it after a British Army officer, James Willoughby Gordon.
The first Post Office in North Willoughby opened a long time ago, on September 1, 1871. It closed about 20 years later, in 1891.

North Willoughby has some cool places to visit! On Penshurst Street, you'll find a small group of shops and cafes.
The Willoughby Hotel
The Willoughby Hotel is a very old and famous building. It was built in 1899. People used to say it was "one of the finest buildings" in the area. It almost got knocked down in 1940, but luckily it was saved! It had a big makeover in 1988.
Rosewall House
Another special building is Rosewall. This is a two-story house made of sandstone, built in the 1880s. It was built for the Forsyth family, who used to run leather factories nearby. The streets Rosewall and Forsyth are named after this house and family.
High Street Markets
The High Street Markets are another great spot. Here you can find different local shops. There's a Harris Farm Markets, plus cafes and restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat.
