Nottuln is a town in Germany. It is located in the district of Coesfeld. This area is part of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The name Nottuln comes from an old German word for "nut wood."

Nottuln's Past: A Brief History
People first settled in the Nottuln area a very long time ago. This was around 4000 BC. A church was built here in 860 by a person named Liudger. He also started the first convent in the Westphalia region.
In 1748, a big fire destroyed many buildings. The parish church and the convent area were rebuilt. They were designed in the beautiful Baroque style. This work was done by a famous architect named Johann Conrad Schlaun.

Nottuln is easy to reach by road and rail. The Bundesautobahn 43 highway passes nearby. The train station in Appelhülsen connects to Münster.
