Nutrisoda was a brand of soda that had extra nutrients added to it. It was sold in the United States by the Ardea Beverage Company. Before 2009, it was known as airforce Nutrisoda.

Nutrisoda was different because it had no sugar, no salt, and very few calories (zero to ten). It was sweetened with Sucralose, which is an artificial sweetener.

How Nutrisoda Started

Nutrisoda was created in 2002 by Joe Heron and his wife, Lesley Heron. They wanted to make sodas that could offer specific health benefits.

In January 2006, a large company called PepsiAmericas bought the Ardea Beverage Co. PepsiAmericas was the second biggest company that bottled Pepsi drinks in the world.

Changes to the Product

Nutrisoda's recipe and packaging were changed a few times.

Early Changes

In early 2006, Nutrisoda was changed from being seen as a "dietary supplement" to a regular "food." This meant some herbs were removed from the drinks. However, important nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and amino acids were kept.

Later Changes and New Slogan

In early 2009, Nutrisoda was changed again to make it cheaper. The amount of nutrients was lowered, and colors were removed from the drinks. New 12-ounce cans were introduced so the drinks could be made in PepsiAmericas factories.

During this time, the company decided to sell only four flavors instead of eight. Flavors like Flex, Slender, Radiant, and Renew were no longer made. The name "airforce" was also officially dropped from the brand.

A new slogan was created: "Healthy / Bubbly" or "Hubbly." However, people did not like the changes very much. Nutrisoda stopped being sold within a year after this relaunch.

Nutrisoda Flavors

There were four main flavors of Nutrisoda. Each flavor had different combinations of 11 vitamins and nutrients. These were meant to help with different parts of your health. None of the flavors had sugar, aspartame, or sodium. They had zero to five calories.

  • FOCUS: This flavor tasted like black cherry and apple. It contained Ginseng extract and an amino acid called L-Tyrosine. It also had Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Biotin, Magnesium, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, Pyridoxine HCL (Vitamin B6), Zinc, and Selenium.
  • ENERGIZE: This flavor tasted like mandarin and orange. It was the only Nutrisoda flavor with Caffeine (50 mg). It also had Taurine and the same vitamins and minerals as FOCUS.
