A. Scott Crossfield was a very important pilot. He was the first person to fly an airplane at twice the speed of sound! He lived in what is now Oak Hill when it was still called Herndon. A local elementary school, Crossfield Elementary, and a park nearby are named after him. This was done to honor his smart mind and his contributions to airplane science.
Charles Burlingame: A Brave Pilot
Charles Burlingame was a pilot who lived in Oak Hill. He was the pilot of American Airlines Flight 77. This plane was tragically lost during a major event in 2001.
