Oakham Hill is one of the highest points in the county of Hampshire, England. It is also a significant part of the beautiful South Downs area. This hill rises to 202 meters (about 663 feet) above the sea.

Oakham Hill is located about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) southeast of the village of Buriton in Hampshire. It sits very close to the border with West Sussex.

Nearby Hills and Landmarks

Just to the west of Oakham Hill, you can find several other interesting hills. These include Head Down (205 meters), War Down (244 meters), and Butser Hill. Butser Hill is the highest point in the entire South Downs, reaching 270 meters (886 feet). It is located in the heart of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

On the southern side of Oakham Hill, you will find Ditcham Park School. This is a private school located in a very scenic spot.

Cycling Fun at Oakham Hill

Oakham Hill is not just a pretty place; it's also a popular spot for sports! It hosts the British Schools’ Cycling Association's National Hill Climb Time Trial. This is a special cycling race where young riders try to cycle up the hill as fast as they can.

The National Hill Climb Event

In 2013, this exciting event attracted 160 young cyclists. These riders were between 5 and 16 years old. A good number of the competitors, 34 of them, were also students from Ditcham Park School. It's a great way for young people to test their cycling skills and enjoy the outdoors.
