Oberdan Cattani (born June 12, 1919 – died June 20, 2014) was a famous Brazilian football player. He was a talented goalkeeper. He played for the Palmeiras club from 1940 to 1954. Oberdan was born in Sorocaba, São Paulo, Brazil.

About Oberdan Cattani
Oberdan Cattani's parents came from Italy. Before becoming a professional footballer, he worked as a truck driver. He tried out for Palmeiras on a day off and was hired in 1941. He stayed with the club until 1954. During his time there, he played 351 matches for Palmeiras.
Oberdan was known for being tall and having big hands. He was also very flexible. These skills made him one of Brazil's most famous goalkeepers in the 1940s. This was a time when the Second World War stopped the World Cup tournaments from happening.
Oberdan's Achievements
Oberdan Cattani is considered one of the biggest heroes of the Palmeiras club. He helped his team win many important titles.
Some of his major wins with Palmeiras include:
- Four Campeonato Paulista titles (in 1942, 1944, 1947, and 1950).
- The Tournament Rio-São Paulo in 1951.
- The Copa Rio Internacional in 1951. This tournament was created to be like a Club World Cup. Oberdan was a reserve goalkeeper during this win.
On April 24, 1955, Oberdan was honored in São Carlos. The "Association of Sports Chroniclers of São Carlos" gave him a special cup.

His Final Years
Oberdan passed away on June 20, 2014. He was 95 years old. He died because of heart problems caused by pneumonia.
