Oberems is a small town in Switzerland. It is located in the Valais canton, which is like a state or province. Oberems is part of the Leuk district.

History of Oberems
Oberems was first mentioned in old records in the year 1101. Back then, it was called superiori Emesa.
In 2021, the people of Oberems voted on a special topic. They voted on whether to allow same-sex marriage in Switzerland. Oberems had the highest "Yes" vote in the whole country. About 85.7% of the people who voted said "Yes" to the change.
Geography of Oberems
Oberems covers an area of about 84.6 square kilometers (32.7 square miles). A large part of this land, about 70.8%, is unproductive. This means it's not used for farming or building. It includes mountains, rocks, and glaciers.

The town is located on a flat area above the Turtmann valley. This valley leads into the Rhone valley. Oberems includes the villages of Ahorn and Bodmen. It also has several smaller settlements called hamlets, like Gruben/Meiden.
