Oberglatt is a municipality in Switzerland. It is located in the Dielsdorf district, which is part of the Canton of Zürich. Oberglatt is also part of the Glatt Valley. A section of the Zurich Airport is located within Oberglatt's borders.

History of Oberglatt
Oberglatt was first mentioned a very long time ago, around 1153-1155, with the name Obrunglate. The village had some big fires in the past. In 1670, twelve houses were destroyed, and in 1825, fifteen more houses burned down.
In recent years, Oberglatt has grown a lot. New buildings were constructed, especially around the train station. The village got its train connection in 1877, linking it to the Zurich-Bülach railway line. Oberglatt used to be mostly a farming village, but now many people work outside the town. There are also many businesses and services right in Oberglatt.
Geography of Oberglatt
Oberglatt covers an area of about 8.2 square kilometers (3.2 square miles). More than half of this land (51.5%) is used for farming. About 10.4% is covered by forests. Buildings and roads take up 30.7% of the land. The remaining 7.3% includes things like rivers.
The Glatt River flows through Oberglatt. The municipality includes the main village of Oberglatt and a smaller area called Hofstetten. Part of the Zurich Airport is right on the eastern edge of Oberglatt.
People and Population
Oberglatt has a population of 7,386 people (as of 31 December 2020). About 32.7% of the people living here are from other countries (as of 2007). Over the last ten years, the number of people living in Oberglatt has grown by 16.8%.
Most people in Oberglatt (78.6%) speak German. Italian is the second most common language (5.3%), followed by Albanian (3.8%).
In 2007, the most popular political party was the SVP, which got 46.6% of the votes. Other popular parties included the SPS (16.2%) and the FDP (11.1%).
Looking at the age of the population (as of 2000):
- Children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 24% of the population.
- Adults (20–64 years old) make up 68.8%.
- Seniors (over 64 years old) make up 7.2%.
About 71.1% of adults in Oberglatt (aged 25-64) have finished either higher education or a special vocational school.

Transport
Oberglatt has its own train station, Oberglatt railway station. This station is served by the Zürich S-Bahn lines S9 and S15. You can reach Zürich Hauptbahnhof (Zurich Main Station) from Oberglatt in about 17 minutes by train.
Education
The Primarschule Oberglatt system provides education for kindergarten and primary school students. The main primary school campus has four buildings. Three other buildings are used for kindergarten classes.
Students from Oberglatt attend two different secondary schools:
- Sekundarschule Rümlang-Oberglatt in Rümlang.
- Sekundarschule Niederhasli-Niederglatt-Hofstetten in Niederhasli.
The Stiftung Tagesschule Oberglatt is also located in the municipality.
