Odil Akhmedov (Uzbek Cyrillic: Одил Аҳмедов; born on November 25, 1987) is a former professional football player from Uzbekistan. He played as a central midfielder and was a key player for the Uzbekistan national team.

Odil Akhmedov's Football Journey
Starting Out at Pakhtakor
Odil Akhmedov was born in Namangan Province. He started his football career playing for the reserve team of Pakhtakor Tashkent. After two seasons, he joined the main team. With Pakhtakor, he helped them win the Uzbek League twice.
He made his first official appearance for Pakhtakor's senior team on May 16, 2006. He was 18 years old at the time. This match was an away game in the Uzbek League against Qizilqum Zarafshon.
Many clubs from other countries became interested in Odil Akhmedov. Some of these clubs were from the Russian Premier League. After he played very well in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, even more teams wanted him.
Playing for Anzhi Makhachkala
On February 9, 2011, Akhmedov joined FC Anzhi Makhachkala in Russia. He first joined them on a loan from Pakhtakor Tashkent.
Just a few days later, on February 13, 2011, he scored his first goal for Anzhi. This happened in a friendly match against Obolon from Ukraine, which Anzhi won 1–0. His official debut in Russia was on March 1, 2011. This was a 2010–11 Russian Cup match against Zenit Saint Petersburg.
At the end of 2011, Anzhi Makhachkala announced that Akhmedov was named the best player of the club for the 2011 season. He received more votes than famous players like Samuel Eto'o.
Moving to FC Krasnodar
In June 2014, Odil Akhmedov moved to Krasnodar. He was given the number 10 shirt, which is often worn by important attacking players.
He scored his first goal for Krasnodar in a friendly match on June 28, 2014. This game was against Qarabağ FK in Austria, and Krasnodar won 1–0. He scored his first official goal for Krasnodar on August 1, 2014. This was in a 2014–15 UEFA Europa League qualifying match.
On August 17, 2014, Akhmedov scored his first official league goal for Krasnodar. This was in a 2–0 win against FC Rostov.
Odil Akhmedov was named the Best Football Player in Uzbekistan multiple times. He won this award in 2009, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018. He was also named the Best Player of FC Krasnodar for the 2014–15 season.
Playing in China: Shanghai SIPG and Tianjin TEDA
On December 30, 2016, Akhmedov moved to Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League. He made his first official appearance for them on February 7, 2017.
In September 2020, he was loaned to Tianjin TEDA. After the loan, he joined Tianjin permanently.
Final Club: Cangzhou Mighty Lions
In 2021, Akhmedov moved to Cangzhou Mighty Lions. He left the team later that year. In December 2021, Odil Akhmedov announced that he was retiring from professional football.
Playing for His Country
Odil Akhmedov made his first appearance for the Uzbekistan national team on October 13, 2007. This was in a big 9–0 win against Chinese Taipei.
He is known for his strong tackles and powerful shots. He scored a memorable goal in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.
On October 10, 2019, Akhmedov played his 100th match for Uzbekistan. This was against the Yemen team.
In June 2021, Odil Akhmedov decided to retire from playing for the national team.
