Odil Akhmedov (born November 25, 1987) is a former professional football player from Uzbekistan. He was a central midfielder, known for his strong tackles and powerful shots. He played for the Uzbekistan national team for many years.

Club Career: A Journey Through Football
Starting Out at Pakhtakor
Odil Akhmedov was born in Namangan Province. He started his football journey playing for the reserve team of Pakhtakor Tashkent. After two seasons, he joined the main team. With Pakhtakor, he helped the club win the Uzbek League twice.
He made his first official appearance for Pakhtakor on May 16, 2006. He was just 18 years old at the time. This match was an Uzbek League game against Qizilqum Zarafshon.
After showing his skills, many foreign clubs became interested in him. Pakhtakor believed he deserved offers from top European clubs.
Moving to Anzhi Makhachkala
On February 9, 2011, Odil Akhmedov joined FC Anzhi Makhachkala in Russia. He first joined them on a one-year loan from Pakhtakor Tashkent.
He scored his first goal for Anzhi in a friendly match on February 13, 2011. This was his very first game with the team. He made his official debut in Russia on March 1, 2011, in a cup match.
In December 2011, Anzhi Makhachkala announced that Akhmedov was named the best player of the club for the 2011 season. He even received more votes than famous players like Samuel Eto'o!
Playing for FC Krasnodar
In June 2014, Akhmedov moved to Krasnodar. He was given the number 10 shirt, which is often worn by key players.
He scored his first goal for Krasnodar in a friendly match on June 28, 2014. He scored his second goal in another friendly game on July 3, 2014.
Akhmedov scored his first official goal for Krasnodar on August 1, 2014. This was during a 2014–15 UEFA Europa League qualifying match. He scored his first official league goal for Krasnodar on August 17, 2014, against FC Rostov.
He was named the Best Football Player in Uzbekistan for the third time in March 2015. Later, in June 2015, he was also named Best Player of FC Krasnodar for the 2014–15 season. In March 2016, he won the Best Football Player in Uzbekistan award for the fourth time.
Adventures in China: Shanghai SIPG and Tianjin TEDA
On December 30, 2016, Akhmedov moved to Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League. He made his first official appearance for them on February 7, 2017.
In September 2020, he was loaned to Tianjin TEDA. After the season, he joined Tianjin permanently.
Final Club: Cangzhou Mighty Lions
In 2021, Akhmedov moved to Cangzhou Mighty Lions. He left the team later that year. In December 2021, he announced that he was retiring from professional football.
International Career: Representing Uzbekistan
Odil Akhmedov made his first international appearance for Uzbekistan on October 13, 2007. This was in a big 9–0 win against Chinese Taipei.
He is well-known for his strong tackling and very powerful shots. Many remember his amazing goal in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, which was considered one of the best goals of the tournament.
On October 10, 2019, Akhmedov played his 100th match for Uzbekistan. This was a special milestone in his career.
In June 2021, Odil Akhmedov decided to retire from playing for the national team.
