Oetz is a lovely town in Austria, located in the Tyrol region. It's found in the Imst area, about 11.7 kilometers (7.3 miles) southeast of the town of Imst. Oetz sits in the beautiful Ötztal valley, right at the base of the tall Acherkogel mountain, which is 3,008 meters (9,869 feet) high! The Ötztaler Ache river flows nearby.

A Look at Oetz's Past
People have lived in the Oetz area for about 2,000 years! The village was first written about in 1266, called Ez back then.
The main church in Oetz was built in a style called Late Gothic. Later, in 1667, it was made bigger. In 1744, the inside of the church was changed to the fancy Baroque style. Inside, you can find a hidden crypt, an altar with a painting of St. Michael from 1683, and many old carvings and statues.

Fun Things to Do in Oetz
Oetz is a popular place for tourists all year round, both in summer and winter. Many people visit, with about 350,000 overnight stays each year! It's a great spot for exciting activities like rafting on the river.
The town has a special museum and art gallery called the Turmmuseum Ötz. It used to be known as the Galerie zum alten Ötztal. This museum teaches you about the local history and shows off cool art.
There are also many amazing natural sights nearby. You can visit Lake Piburg, which is a beautiful lake. There's also the Auer Klamm, which is a cool gorge, and the impressive Stuibenfall waterfall. Another lovely waterfall can be found on the Tumpenbach stream.
