Oglala is a community located in South Dakota, United States. Its name comes from the Lakota word Oglála, which means "he scatters his own". The community is also named after the Oglala Lakota people, sometimes called the Oglala Sioux.
Oglala is found in Oglala Lakota County and is part of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. In 2020, about 1,282 people lived there.

Geography and Location
Oglala is located in the northwestern part of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It covers an area of about 13.4 square miles (34.6 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
The community is situated just north of the Oglala Dam. This dam created a reservoir called Oglala Lake in 1941.
