Olga Valeryevna Medvedtseva (Russian: Ольга Валерьевна Медведцева), also known by her former names Pyleva (Russian: Пылёва) and Zamorozova (Russian: Заморозова), is a famous former Russian biathlete. She was born on July 7, 1975. A biathlete is an athlete who combines two sports: cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. Olga was very good at both, winning many medals in her career.

At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, she won a gold medal in the 10 km pursuit race. She also earned a bronze medal as part of the team relay. Her second gold medal came at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, again in a relay event.

Olga also won two events at the Holmenkollen ski festival biathlon competition during the 2004–05 season. These wins were in the sprint and pursuit races. She decided to retire from the sport after the 2009–10 season.

A Challenging Moment in 2006

During the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Olga Medvedtseva won a silver medal in the women's 15 km individual race. However, on February 16, 2006, she was disqualified from the competition. This happened because a substance called carphedon was found in her system during a drug test.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) panel found that she had broken the rules. As a result, she was asked to leave the games and her silver medal was taken away. She was also not allowed to compete for two years. The head of the Russian Anti-Doping Committee explained that Olga had taken an over-the-counter medicine for an ankle injury. This medicine was given to her by her personal doctor, not a team doctor, and it contained the banned substance.
