Pierre Olivier Sarkozy (born May 26, 1969) is a French banker who works in the United States. He is known for his work in finance. His half-brother is Nicolas Sarkozy, who used to be the President of France.

Early Life and Education
Olivier Sarkozy was born in Paris, France, on May 26, 1969. His father, Pál Sarkozy, came from a noble family in Hungary. His mother, Christine de Ganay, was French.
Olivier's father had other children from a previous marriage. One of them was Nicolas Sarkozy, who later became the President of France. Olivier met Nicolas every week when he was young.
When Olivier was 7, his parents divorced. His mother then married an American diplomat. Because of his stepfather's job, Olivier lived outside France for much of his childhood. He lived in countries like Zambia and Egypt. He also went to a boarding school in the United Kingdom.
Later, he studied at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. He earned a degree in medieval history there.

Starting in Finance
Olivier Sarkozy began his career in banking in 1990. He was hired by an American investment bank called Dillon, Read & Co.. He worked there for three years.
In 1993, he joined Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB). At CSFB, he held important positions. He became a Managing Director in their Financial Institutions Group. This group helps banks and other financial companies.
Key Deals and Companies
While at CSFB, Sarkozy advised many large companies. He helped Wachovia when it merged with First Union. He also advised Dime Bancorp in its merger with Washington Mutual. These were big deals where companies joined together.
In 2003, he moved to UBS Investment Bank. At UBS, he was a Global Co-Head of the Financial Institutions Group. He continued to work on major transactions. For example, he helped Sallie Mae with its financial plans. He also advised on the sale of LaSalle Bank to Bank of America. He worked on mergers like Mellon joining with the Bank of New York.
Later Roles
Sarkozy also advised Charles Schwab on selling U.S. Trust to Bank of America. He helped MBNA sell to Bank of America. He was involved in many other large mergers and sales between banks.
In 2008, he became a Co-head and Managing Director at the Carlyle Group. This is a large investment company. He left this position in 2016. Today, Olivier Sarkozy lives in New York City. He is a member of the Board of Directors for BankUnited.

In the 1990s, Olivier Sarkozy married Charlotte Bernard. She is a writer who focuses on fashion and children's books. They were married by his half-brother, Nicolas Sarkozy. At that time, Nicolas was the mayor of Neuilly-sur-Seine, a town near Paris.
Olivier and Charlotte have two children together. They were married for 14 years. They separated in 2010, and their divorce was finalized in 2011.

In May 2012, Olivier Sarkozy started a relationship with Mary-Kate Olsen. She is a fashion designer and was a child actress. They got married on November 27, 2015. Their wedding was a private event in New York City.
