Fritz-Olof Thunberg (born May 21, 1925 – died February 24, 2020) was a famous Swedish actor and director. He was best known for using his deep voice to bring many cartoon characters to life. You might know him as the voice of the beloved Swedish cartoon bear, Bamse. He was also the grandfather of climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Olof Thunberg's Early Life and Career
Olof Thunberg was born in Västerås, Sweden. When he was young, he started a theatre club called Scenklubben. Later, he studied acting in Stockholm. In the late 1940s, he performed in public parks, which is a fun way to start a career!
After finishing drama school, Olof worked at the East Gothland Theatre. There, he not only acted but also directed plays. He then became a freelance actor, meaning he worked on many different projects.
The Man in Black and Other Roles
In the 1950s, Olof became very popular for a radio show called Mannen i svart ("The Man in Black"). He used his deep voice to tell scary and supernatural stories. Imagine listening to spooky tales with cool sound effects!
Olof also appeared in many films. He often played charming and confident characters. In 1963, he had a role in a serious drama called Winter Light, directed by the famous Ingmar Bergman.
Voice Acting for Kids' Favorites
Olof Thunberg was the voice of many characters in children's films and recordings. He voiced both Bamse, the world's strongest bear, and Agaton Sax, a clever detective.
He also voiced the scary tiger, Shere Khan, in the Swedish versions of Disney's The Jungle Book (from 1967) and its sequel, The Jungle Book 2 (from 2003). He even voiced characters in other classic Disney movies like Lady and the Tramp and One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
In 2006, Olof was a host on a popular radio program called Sommar. He also directed shows for television.
Olof Thunberg's Family Life
Olof Thunberg was married to Ingrid Johansson for a few years. Later, he lived with actress Mona Andersson. They had children together.
His son, Svante Thunberg, is also an actor. Svante is married to the opera singer Malena Ernman. This makes Olof Thunberg the grandfather of the well-known climate activist, Greta Thunberg.
In 1959, Olof was engaged to actress Lena Granhagen. They lived together for some years and even acted as a couple in a TV series called Villervalle i Söderhavet in 1963.
Olof Thunberg passed away on February 24, 2020, when he was 94 years old.
