Club Career
Playing for Zamalek
Omar Gaber started his football journey at Zamalek when he was young. He played in their youth teams. By the 2009-2010 season, he joined their main team. He quickly became a regular player for Zamalek.
In May 2016, it was announced that he would move to Switzerland. He was going to play for a new club there.
Moving to Basel
In May 2016, FC Basel in Switzerland agreed to sign Gaber. He joined them during the summer. He was given the number 4 shirt. Gaber became the fourth Egyptian player to join Basel in a short time. He signed a four-year contract with the Swiss team.
On July 1, 2016, Gaber officially joined Basel's first team. He played under coach Urs Fischer. After playing in six practice games, Gaber made his first league appearance. This was on July 24, 2016, in a home game against Sion. Basel won the game 3-0.
Under coach Urs Fischer, Gaber and Basel won the Swiss Super League championship. This was at the end of the 2016-2017 season. It was Basel's eighth league title in a row. It was also their 20th championship overall. They also won the Swiss Cup that year. This meant they won both the league and the cup, which is called "the double." Gaber played in three cup games.
In the next season, Gaber did not play as much. So, the club looked for another option for him. On November 21, 2017, Basel announced that Gaber would go on loan. He would join Los Angeles Football Club. This was so he could get more playing time in the North American league. Gaber did not return to Basel after this loan. During his time with Basel, he played 30 games in total. He did not score any goals for the club.
Loan to Los Angeles FC
In January 2018, Gaber joined Los Angeles FC on loan from Basel. Los Angeles had the choice to sign him permanently later. In his first six months, Gaber played seven games in the Major League Soccer.
Playing for Pyramids FC
On July 12, 2018, Los Angeles FC decided to make Omar Gaber's loan permanent. Basel also confirmed this deal on the same day. However, Los Angeles immediately transferred him to another team. He moved to Pyramids FC, an Egyptian Premier League club.
