Omar Quintana Baquerizo (born March 22, 1944 – died April 3, 2020) was an important person in Ecuador. He was a politician, a sports leader, and a businessman. Quintana was a member of two political parties: the Ecuadorian Roldosist Party (PRE) and the Institutional Renewal Party of National Action (PRIAN).
He served in the country's main law-making body, the former National Congress of Ecuador. He was a representative, called a Deputy, from 2003 to 2005. For a short time in 2005, he was even the President of the National Congress.
Besides politics, Quintana was well-known in the world of football (soccer). He led a famous professional football club called C.S. Emelec. Under his guidance, Emelec won three national championships. He also helped another club, Club 9 de Octubre, reach important international competitions.

Who Was Omar Quintana?
Omar Quintana Baquerizo was born on March 22, 1944, in Quito, Ecuador. Even though he was born in Quito, he spent most of his life in Guayaquil and the nearby city of Playas, Ecuador. He was married to Diana Noboa Pontón, and they had three daughters. Quintana was a basketball player before he became a leader in football.
He was active in politics for many years. He was part of the Ecuadorian Roldosist Party (PRE). Later, he joined the Institutional Renewal Party of National Action (PRIAN). This party was led by his brother-in-law, Álvaro Noboa.

Omar Quintana was very famous for his work in sports, especially football. He was the director of C.S. Emelec, a big football club in Guayaquil.
